Autonomous Audi

It is no secret that Audi have been working on autonomous vehicles for a long long time. However I was still a little shocked when I found out the the next Audi A8 will be self driven up to 37mph, it just seems very close. Audi also recently pulled of a stunt whereby they used a convoy of self driving Audi A7s transported journalists from San Francisco to the Consumer Electronics Show (a show which is well worth a look if you’re into car tech). The Audi A7 used for the journalists drive themselves up to 70 miles per hour, they can change lanes autonomously, pass other cars autonomously, accelerate autonomously and brake autonomously. I for one feel like I went to sleep and woke up in the future, a future that I knew was inevitable yet always felt distant.

Anyway, as we speak laws are being discussed which will allow partially autonomous vehicles on the road, some states in America already have the laws in place. The next generation A8 as well as driving on its own up to 37 mph, will be able to navigate through traffic and find a parking spot and park itself, you ca also expect some extras to become available in the near future as the laws are finalised and agreed upon. With this kind of technology surfacing as well as developments made with cars such as the Tesla Roadster, it seems like the car is on the precipice of a revolution of sorts, and its an exciting one.
